How to make an Acai bowl

OhEfuaye’s Kitchen

Acai bowls are so so good! If you haven’t had an Acai bowl, I recommend that you make one now. Acai bowls are the perfect snack for before/after a workout, between meals, light breakfast etc. ; honeslty these delicious snacks are perfect for anytime.

What is an Acai Bowl?

  • An Acai bowl is a bowl filled with a thick yogurt-like smoothie, mixed with a variety of toppings.
  • The smoothie is made with any type of mixed berry, mangoes, etc.
  • The toppings includes granola, bananas, almonds, pecans…really anything you want!

When all these delicious components come together, you get a thick smoothie, filled with all things crunchy and sweet. Honestly, this is the perfect mix between frozen yogurt and sorbet. Healthy & Sweet!

Acai Bowl Ingredients

  • Pure unsweetened acai puree (optional) Tip: I have made an acai bowl with just frozen berries and it was perfect, it becomes more of a smoothie bowl!
  • Frozen mixed berries, Frozen mangoes, etc. (any frozen fruit of your choice)
  • Milk, yogurt, orange juice (any milk or juice of your choice)
  • Fresh berries (fruit)/granola/ nuts, to top

Instructions

  1. In a high powered blender combine the frozen berries, acai powder, and 1/4 cup of milk/yogurt/juice. Blend until smooth. Add milk/juice as needed until at desired thickness.
  2. Pour into a bowl and add toppings!
  3. Enjoy!

Tip: I recommend using the pulse or tamper function on your blender (if it has one) to make the consistency of your mixture smoother.

Other topping suggestions: chocolate chips, yogurt chips, cashews, hemp seeds, chia seeds

These always look SO GOOD! I can’t make them or eat them till I have my gallbladder removed because most of the ingredients have high fat in them! But I will definitely be visiting this post again after I have it removed in a few weeks!

A high powered blender with a tamper option is so important for texture here, so it’s great that you mentioned it. (I once tried making an açaí bowl in a NutriBullet and it kept getting stuck… So Solid advice!)
