I love apples! Apples are so so soo good! Imagine being able to snack on chips that were immensely healthy for you. Well, guess what?! Apple chips are the answer to all your chip eating problems. This is the best snack for everyone all the way from gluten-free to vegan-free to sugar-free to fats-free… cause its just APPLES!

Recently, my dad has been loving apple chips, so I’ve been going to Costco more often than not to purchase a bag of apple chips. But…OMG, are they pricey! After, going to purchase apple chips more and more often I realized that $6 + tax for a bag of chips that were half air was not worth my coin.

I did a little digging…of course on Pinterest and I discovered how to make healthy homemade apple chips. Let me tell you, anybody can make these delicious chips. They are the easiest recipe ever and all you need are APPLES! So unless its a must and I need to purchase a bag of apple chips, this girl is making them at home.

Ingredients

  • Gala Apples
  • Sugar or cinnamon sugar (optional)

How to make Homemade Apple Chips

The most important step is baking your chips at the right temperature. Before, you start anything else preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Now time for the apples! First, wash and dry your apples.

Tip: Use Gala apples, they are the sweetest apple. When you use gala apples it eliminates having to sprinkle sugar on the apples to make them sweet. Less sugar the better, so why not?

Next, slice your apples very thinly. Apparently, after doing some external reading, people use a kitchen gadget called a mandoline to help slice the apples thinly. I do not own a mandoline, and this recipe still works without it. However, without a mandoline make sure you slice the apples very thinly. You don’t want the apples too thick or they don’t become CHIPS!

Tip: The sharper the knife, the easier it is to cut the apples thinly

Now, that the apples are sliced; line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place your apples on the sheet. If you would like to add cinnamon sugar, dust lightly on top of your apples. Apples taste sweet either way!

Place the tray in the oven for about 45 min or when lightly browned. Then flip apples and place them back in the oven for another 30 min or until apples are golden brown.

Tip: Watch your apples! Depending on the type of oven you have the bake time could be less or more.

When time is up, bring out the tray and let the apples cool on the tray for approximately 15-20 minutes before storing it in a container or putting in a bowl. This ensure the apples stay crispy.

Tip: The longer you leave the apples out the crispier they become.

Voila! How easy was that? Now you have these delicious apple chips to enjoy. Let me know how they were, and don’t hesitate to comment down below.

Oh, and btw…my dad loved these chips…he couldn’t tell the difference between mine and the stores!
