Preparing for university fall semester

I can’t believe summer is already coming to an end and very soon I’ll be going back to Waterloo. However, as much as I am sad that summer is ending, I am also very excited for my 2nd year!

I would say that Fall semester is definitely my favourite semester because you are coming fresh off from summer and going in with a clean slate, refreshed and ready to begin. My favourite part is obviously back to school shopping for supplies, fall clothing, and room decor! I find it all so exciting!

Get comfy and get a read into some of my ways of getting ready for the Fall semester.

1. School Supply shopping

This is definitely one of my favourite parts of back to school. Just the idea of walking through the stationary section and looking at all the pens, sharpies, and notebooks makes me excited!

I always recommend to look at what you have at home first before going to purchase a bunch of new stuff. That way you’ll know exactly what you need etc.

I usually gets lots of lined paper, highlighters, pens, and lots of sticky notes.

2. Room DIY

This year I am actually very into apartment room DIYs. Now being in 2nd year and being at school all year I really want to make my room cosy and comfortable.

(Stayed tuned for apartment room DIY’s Post)

3. Make a packing list

So this one is very important because when packing your stuff to move from home it can be very stressful. It can be confusing not knowing what to take or stressful when you think you have to bring everything! However, making a packing list really lets you outline what you ACTUALLY need to bring and then points out the few items you need to purchase.

I also recommend that u start packing in advance because the day before you leave won’t cut it.

(Stay tuned for my personal packing list post)

4. Planner Shopping!

This makes me excited! I love journal shopping and planner shopping! Plus school is all about organization, so take time to scout out a new planner for school. It will help you keep organized the minute you start classes. I recommend going to Chapters, Homesense, or Winners. All these places have a variety of options for you to choose from.

5. Check your school email/website

Remember to check your school email or wherever your school sends you updates. It helps you to stay in the loop of what is happening on campus and in your classes for the starting weeks of the semester. It is good to be in the loop!

6. Outline your Goals

Even before I started university I have always been doing this. I think it is so important to outline your goals for the upcoming semester.

For example, I got on the Deans List/ and had an excellent academic standing in my first year. So this is a goal for me again in second year. So I have jotted that down on my goals list so I know it something I want to achieve. I also know that I want to be active in extracurriculars on campus as well so I jotted that down.

When you write down your goals in a place where u can refer to them or see them everyday it brings life & affirmation to what you want to achieve. Believing you can do it is the first step to success.
